Rules Covering Separate Confinment

Rules relating to keeping prisoners in separate confinment and the conditions under which these should be implemented.

Rule 1. - That the undermentioned be the Classes of Prisoners who shall be kept in separate confinement:

1st. - All Male Prisoners committed for trial.
2nd. - All convicted Male Prisoners not sentenced to hard labour.
3rd. - All deserters awaiting their route.
4th. - Such Male Convicted Prisoners sentenced to hard labour as in the opinion of the Keeper of the Gaol...it may be thought desirable, either from their character, or other circumstances, to keep apart from the other Prisoners.
