Walter Horsford - The St Neots' Poisoner
1898

Option 1: Interview Annie Holmes' daughter Annie

A Victorian Police Officer - MAY have chosen this option
A Police Officer today - WOULD NOT choose this option

A Victorian police officer might have interviewed young Annie on his own and taken down notes before preparing a witness statement for her to sign. There were no women officers in the police force in 1898.

A modern police officer would ask specially trained colleagues, used to dealing with child or teenage witnesses, to help them out. Annie would be interviewed by at least two officers, and the interview would be taped and possibly videoed. A witness statement would then be prepared for Annie to sign. The police officers involved might be women.
